People who sit behind a desk all are now driving large busses in heavy traffic that could easily injure or kill many.

That's true. There are lots of articles written about the subject. It's all about people who sit all day. He's one for people who have desk jobs.

Sitting in one place all day is just not good for your health.

Those jobs are coveted jobs. You can retire at 55 with full pension.
The waiting lists are years long for those jobs even after you pass the test.
I even stated that the best job of them all is garbage man.

When folks commented that the salary was low I pointed out that in Queens alone there were over 100 homes for sale $250K and under.

I don't know how you got it into your head that I was bashing and complaining.
I see this term thrown around a lot. Care to give us your definition of it?

I don't understand why some people are "wowed" by this. First of all, the BASE salary is $67K. Which is a pretty good salary in NYC compared to the COL but nothing amazing. If a bus driver made $67K base in a normal COL area, that would be amazing (and there may be a few rare areas where they do).

Second, someone working OT making 100K+ is irrelevant because that's not the norm in the profession. How ridiculous is it to judge a professions potential earnings based on the earning of the top 1-2% in that profession who work in a high COL area and work a crazy amount of OT. People really need to understand the totality of the circumstance before forming these flawed opinions.

And posting that 5 of the drivers made upto $153K with OT .......just wow I'm not even going to bother explaining. Those that understand will easily grasp my reason behind the "face palm."

Typically full retirement is 30 years and 60/65 and you get a full pension.
If you retire at 55 it's considered an early retirement and you get a reduced pension.

Some jobs let you retire at 55 with 30 years and get a full pension.
These are typically public sector jobs.

MTA spokesperson said that the service is short of drivers and some have to work OT. [that's a lot of OT]
They earn every dime of it IMHO. Dealing with NYC traffic and A******S both on the bus and outside the bus.

You're joking right? You do know that it takes an income of like $500k/yr. to be in the 1% in NYC.
