Insane. Shopper was attacked from behind for no reason whatsoever. As if shopping is often not stressful enough sometimes. Articles like this make me want to get a log cabin and grow my own food. Seriously. The suspect looks scary, disturbed.

There are lot of mentally ill people running around. The nation has done a poor job addressing mental health.

This is so true. Basically for a mentally ill person to be treated without voluntarily consenting, they have to be already guilty of a crime. And then they're sent into a very poorly funded system and good luck with that.

While this is certainly a tragedy, this article does absolutely nothing to change my opinion of shopping (which is that it's boring and nothing else).

I'm still perfectly aware that the drive to the grocery store is far more dangerous than looking for a ripe mango.

Scary, it was so random and sudden.

No warning, nothing, just walks up to the victim from behind and slashes his throat with a box cutter. How can you even prevent that?

Also, this guy was scaring people prior to with his odd behavior. Clearly he is a disturbed man, but as always hindsight is 20/20. Who would ever think it would escalate like that.

What an evil P.O.S. I have commented in other threads about being hassled by mentally ill panhandlers. Well, it's obvious that there are a lot of these scum walking around - they should all be locked up.

LOL of course it is.

You can get killed by a mentally person anywhere but our roads also include the careless, the texters, the drunks and the irresponsible.

There is a lot of mentally ill people out there. Illicit drugs and abuse of prescription drugs seem to making the problem worse. Some people are frying their brains.

Locked up where? Your home? How much would it cost the government to locked them up in a facility?
