If what imdb said about the late Aja is anywhere as near accurate .... "She used her fame as an adult-film performer to enhance her career as a stripper, and after she retired in 1992 she concentrated exclusively on her dancing, and says that she has no plans whatsoever to come back to the porn business." and considering what Jennie Ketcham said in her book "I am Jennie" about the adult business of a lot of cash for only working 2-3 days a week........
...............then one might conclude that being a stripper is a good way to make some pretty decent & legal money with low risk. Or at least, one might believe that.
With all that mind, then one might understand the motivation behind this incident, especially if the person in question didn't have other ways to earn a decent living.
If she can't find someone to watch her child for an audition?

True -- worst part about this for me is the lead says the police arrested "a woman and her friend." Hold the phone... there were two of them? Why didn't once watch the baby while the other auditioned? If they were going to both audition, they could have taken turns watching the baby. Sometimes you just have to go at the decisions people make. I hope this baby miraculously ends up with someone who has some sense and cares for her well being.
I have had good strippers (pretty ones with athletic ability) say $2000 a week, mostly from lap dances. A porn star who tours as a stripper is in a different category and had/has to give much more of herself to make a living, so I don't count them. Also, I don't particularly like "features" (porn stars working as strippers); they're more damaged, want to be treated as real movie stars, and often have ridiculously large breast implants. "Regular" strippers are much more appealing - you know, the girl from your high school that you wanted to see naked but never could.

The article that I read stated that the friend was supposed to stay with the baby and then left the car to watch the mother perform in the strip club instead.
