1. If you never met someone before in person but only online, that person is not your girlfriend/boyfriend.
2. Be wary of putting all your (financial) eggs in one basket chasing a fantasy and dream overseas. I've seen several threads from people wondering about finding 'love' overseas. Caveat Emptor.
Alexander Pieter Cirk made news headlines when he was hospitalised for exhaustion after spending 10 days waiting for his online girlfriend at Changsha Huanghua International Airport in China. The woman, identified only by her surname Zhang, never showed up.
According to CCTV News, the 41-year-old Dutchman flew 4,500 kilometres to China to see the 26-year-old Zhang, two months after meeting online.

Can't agree more. Some guys won't get it through their heads that the goal of these women is to get in their pockets, not in their beds. No telling how many "boyfriends" they're stringing along online.
A know of a situation where a guy spent all kinds of money and time arranging for a Russian girl to get to the U.S. On the day of the arrival, he was at the airport waiting for her. When she got off the plane, he recognized her, waved, calling her name. She was not looking at him and ran to the arms of her Russian boyfriend who was also at the airport.

That actually happened to an Indian friend of mine living here. He got married (arranged marriage. Still very common) in India & sponsored his wife's immigration to move to usa. When she arrived here at the airport, she said that the only reason she agreed to marry him was she wanted to move to usa to be with her boyfriend who had moved to usa few yrs back. But his legal status, income was insufficient for him to sponsor her. So she got into an arranged marriage to reunite with her bf in usa. She left the airport with her boyfriend & filed for divorce.

All he would have to do is call INS and they would deport her.
He looks scary. I don't blame the girl for not showing up.
Maybe she did and saw him and left w/o him seeing her......
Regardless I feel bad for the guy......
