Given that, I wonder how well they'll hold up to the inevitable snow-shoveling? Most of the solar panels I've seen would be too fragile to work well as a durable walking surface, even without the potential damage that clearing the sidewalk with a shovel might cause.

Sidewalks are under trees. That will cut down its efficiency.
