Two things Emma Tapping undeniably loves are Christmas and her family (although you might be able to throw holiday shopping into the mix). The 36-year-old British mother of three recently appeared on the talk show “This Morning” to defend her decision to spend about $2,400 CAD (£1,500) on more than 300 gifts for her three children — roughly 100 each. Her husband will get a few surprises under the tree as well.

She can spend her money on whatever she wants. Lets be logical though. 85 Gifts each? Will the kids even play with all of that? I doubt it.

300 gifts for 2400 bucks. That is $8.00 a gift. Hardly that much but quite a few presents to wrap for her. I know a few people who spend well over $5000.00 on Christmas gifts. I guess if they can afford it, to each his own.

I don't care what she spends he money on. But if you look at that tree... You can't even see it lol. I Doubt the kids will even play with all those gifts . Also, she lives in England. Houses are pretty small there. I wonder where she's going to keep all that lol

I have no problem with this if each kid takes maybe 80 of their gifts to a homeless shelter the next day. Even so, the whole enterprise strikes me as vulgar, tacky, and a bad lesson for parents to impart to their children.

While I try to avoid counting other people's money, 100 presents per kid is insane. They will spend half the day opening the presents and the other half cleaning up the presents. This is why I hate Christmas, an encouraged display of gross materialism.

Seems like I remember this story or something like it from last year. Same reaction. Good for her.

I know a woman who gives each of her children a gift every day from the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas. And now that her kids are adults in their 30s she's extended it to include her four grandchildren as well. I think it's ridiculous but it's her money. I wonder, though, if she will do it again this year. She and her husband took an early retirement about 15 years ago and a few months ago I heard they had blown through their very substantial retirement savings and were reduced to living off their Social Security now. I bet she's wishing for some of the money she spent on that excessive gift giving for all those years.

she's kind of committed to outdoing the previous year's count for the next 10 or 15 years now

oh, and how about putting in a little more effort into the gift wrapping technique...and include ribbons and bows next time too

Or she may prey on people who think this is what the holidays are all about and start a Gofundme campaign.
