I love bacon, however is this before or after pork industry started adding chemicals, toxins, and who knows what else to make the hog grow faster larger and with more flavor? Most all of our foods years ago before the food industry changed to less healthy growing and raising foods started their agenda for profits instead of quality. That being said, now give me a BLT on toast please…………………

Bacon is my favorite food group. Everything's better with bacon!

My favorite unexpected delight is a rolled up pizza wrapped and baked in - bacon! Looks like a big long bacon burrito, tastes like a dream especially using a CPK BBQ chicken pizza...mmmm bacon!

I don't get the bacon obsession. Sure, it's good - but so are lots of meats.

I mean, c'mon people...

Most times I have heard a super elderly (90>) hear them say bacon, high fat foods (like lard) and some say wine or a shot of whiskey at dinner.

This may sound strange to mid aged and younger but what they don't understand is why they live longer is because they're eating these types of foods. Every one is a little different but at some age eating does not have the same flavor and their appetite diminishes. These super elderly really don't eat much so when they do eat they need high fat foods and protein to remain healthy. Bacon, high fat foods, etc. provide this.

My doctors told me that the biggest challenge to remaining healthy as I get older is maintaining my weight. So every day I eat high calorie, high fat foods to do this. This is a complete reversal from when I was 40ish.

I lost 50 pounds eating high fat low carb.

My bloodwork came back lowest cholesterol ever, everything normal.

I eat no bread, no sugar, and a pound of bacon twice a week. Mostly water, meat and veggies, and nuts.

Breakfast is bulletproof coffee (coconut oil and grass fed butter blended into black coffee).

It has nothing to do with the toxins or chemicals in the pork.

It has everything to do with the cholesterol in it. In this age of statin drugs, 1% and 2% milk, meat with all the fat trummed off it, the avoidance of eggs and butter, etc, many people do not consume enough cholesterol. This may, in some cases, lead to Alzheimer's disease as those people age.

Olive oil is also an excellent fat, but it does not supply cholesterol....
