The article is unclear - did he receive a gift of a loaded gun with the safety off?

Um . . . ?

Here's another article, but it's doubly unclear. He accidentally shot her while he was trying to "put", apparently. Whatever the in world the reporter was actually trying to say.

He phrased it a little oddly, but it makes sense if you read the entire sentence, he was trying to PUT the gun AWAY:

Quote:
Shelby County Sheriff's Office said Lucinda Luna's 18-year-old boyfriend, Brennan Fields, accidentally shot her in the stomach while trying to put a gun he received for his graduation away.

This is why I don't get some states (Arizona namely) don't force gun owners to learn how to properly use guns.

A liitle diddy my Dad sang whilst teaching me basic firearms safety.."I didn't know the gun was loaded...and I'm so sorry, my friend". Every firearm is loaded. Period. That's graven in stone.
