What a relief, I thought this was going to be about a Pentagon purchase for some reason...
That's what I thought, too.
Then I realized $185 for a paperclip? Way too cheap.
No, the government would spend probably 4,000 times that much on a paperclip.
It's a well known fact that you can find status seekers or morons looking to brag/impress others by how expensive something they bought or own is.....whether it be a paper clip, jewelry, car, boat, painting,etc....Don't get why this stands out as any different.
I swear, you could sell a pile of sh#t for $20,000 per pound if it had a designer name stamped on it somewhere
Or you could sell a bottle of the juice of fermented grapes for hundreds of dollars (but you have to call it 'wine' or it will never sell) or double the price of a motorcycle if you slap a 'Harley Davidson' designation on it or get millions for a piece of canvas smeared with some paint by an insane Dutch guy who cut off his own ear.
And yet for some reason those things are all perfectly accepted, while the paper clip is sneered at. In fact, within this story about this paper clip is a lesson about how we value things.
