Naval staffers booted over disturbing pics, posts of ‘mini Satan’ newborns | New York Post
"Workers at a naval hospital in Florida have been booted from their posts after sick photos went viral of them rudely posing with newborn babies and referring to the tots as “mini Satans.”
One of the pics posted to Snapchat shows Allyson Thompson, a corpsman at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, flipping the bird to a baby who’s wrapped in a blanket, along with the caption, “How I currently feel about these mini Satans,” according to Action News Jacksonville.
In another photo, Thompson grins as she holds a baby up by its arms. The pic was shared by a woman who identified the employee as a “navy nurse” who made the newborn dance to rap music, First Coast News reported."
What is wrong with these people? In addition to the unprofessional behavior and endangering a chold with the puppet like dance, they went and took photos and shared them. What did they think will happen? Goodbye careers to these folks.
I have to say here, that it's not the bad behavior of these 'nurses' that is the most disturbing. It's the fact they think many other people think about newborns the same way they do, and enjoy seeing their so-called humor online. I would be deeply concerned for any children these women may have, now or in the future.
A further example of their air-head stupidity is that they did this while on active duty in a military facility.

In my opinion, they were probably too young to be working in such a high level of care type job. They look 18 or 19. But NO, that does not excuse the behavior.

What's disturbing to me is some news outlets tried to protect the identity of the workers, by blotting out their faces in the photos. When the women themselves had posted these pictures to social media.
Seriously, why protect them? It's fair game to put their pictures out there.

It is. And the whole social media thing has clouded the judgement of many. People lay it all out there without a thought to what they are doing, all to have a "cool" status. Then the pictures and thier name is out there forever with the info. Dummies!
Par for the course for Jacksonville. Truly, they have some of the dumbest people on the planet living there.
I used to live and work there once. My company actually had to "dumb down" our hiring requirements because we couldn't get enough qualified people hired there. Multiple sites, all over the country, but Jacksonville's hiring criteria went out the window because they weren't able to meet the standards of any of our other sites.
(It actually got out that we had a large group of employees dubbed Group B who were slated to be let go after our hiring commitment to the City of Jacksonville was met.) Ah, good times LOL
I saw this on the news this morning. The (other) thing that ticks me off is that they were simply removed from their job with patients, not fired or stripped of their nursing (or whatever) credentials.
Call me harsh, but I think people wouldn't do stupid things like this if there were actual consequences sometimes. At least they wouldn't do them twice.

Most cases of on the job misconduct that is recorded and made public they do get canned. Remember that doctor in Florida who beat the uber driver on a night out? She got fired. Main reason why they are not canned? Friends in high places, favors or bribes. No other explanation. Would you have sent them packing? Sounds like you would, as would I.
