Read the article, and LOVED the Waffle House response.
(And, yeah, I thought it was funny, too.)
But I would think that if the Waffle House was open, there would be a minimum of two people working there!
I agree about the 2 people working and there's a few things that don't make alot of sense there.. If you read it, the guy says he walked to the Waffle House, then after 10 minutes, walked back to his car.. Now, that could just be a poorly written story and they meant to write "He walked INTO the Waffle House"
But.. If this were a joke and he knew the employee and they staged this or something.. The employee got suspended for a week.. Not all that funny to him, I'm sure.
believe it or not.. Waffle House is pretty customer oriented.. I mean, there's all the jokes about their food and everything, but.. It's not my first choice of a place to eat, but is often the best choice at 3am. I would up at a store that had about 5 customers in it and sat at the counter unnoticed for 15 minutes before walking out.. The employees were smoking and talking with their friends.. I sent something to their website and I wound up with calls from the GM and area supervisors.. First one was getting the time I was there and the second profusely apologizing and sending gift certificates (Which I wound up donating).. Apparently they went in and pulled the security camera footage because they said it was almost 25 minutes from the time I walked in until I walked out.
Our local Division Manager has spoken to Alex and apologized. For safety reasons, our customers should never have to go behind the counter. Rather they should get a quality experience delivered by friendly associates. We are reviewing this incident and will take appropriate disciplinary action.
In a related note, obviously Alex has some cooking skills, and we’d like to talk to him about a job since we may have something for him.
Waffle House is the only thing I like about the Carolina's, wish we had them on Long Island
