"A man was left stranded on a glass-bottomed suspension bridge in north-eastern China after sudden gale-force winds shattered the transparent panels around him.
The man was on the 100-metre-high bridge at Piyan Mountain in Longjing city, when it was hit by sudden strong weather, the local tourism department said.
Gusts of up to 150km per hour blew out several glass panels, trapping the tourist until he could be rescued by firefighters, police, and forestry and tourism personnel more than half an hour later."
How would you react to the situation if it was you up there?

Same as he did. What else? You cling to the bridge and wait for rescue.
He was rescued by firefighters, police, and forestry and tourism personnel greater than half an hour later.
Wild weather has rocked parts of China in recent days, impacting holiday travel. Videos shared online showed other bridges twisting and flipping in high winds, and on Monday afternoon authorities warned of hail, wind and lightning in Hubei.
The bridge probably should be closed for tourists when bad weather is to be expected.
It's actually happened here in the U.S. as well. Instead of strong wind gusts, a tourist slid on the glass panels.
He attempted to slide across the glass, with 'baseball slide'. (sliding maneuver typically carried out with one leg tucked under the other).
A “metal object on the guest’s clothing chipped the glass, resulting in noticeable cracks in the protective top layer of one glass panel.”
A stupid tourist’s stunt... https://metro.co.uk/2020/06/16/idiot...orge-12862388/
I would want to know the cost of the bridge, the repairs, and will anyone be thrown off the bridge for wasting the taxpayers' money on a glass bridge.
You meant that nice things shouldn't be built for public enjoyment or to attract tourists? Or to show off the technology or natural beauty of the landscape?

A bridge made of glass is one of the best examples ever of spending to show off technology, but I prefer bridges that don't break when I'm on them.
