For the past 2 years my newly husband and I have only been able to have one of us working because we have a 2 year old daughter and cannot afford daycare prices but now its began to really put a financial damper on us and we need another income. Therefore, Im on the hunt for drop in childcare so that I can search for a job in the evening times when he is home. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful!! Thank you in advance!!

I would recommend the Texas Dept of Family and Protective Services website.

http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Ca...hildCare2.aspx

They have a Child Care center section and you can search for centers that have Drop In services. Good luck!

We've used Bright Horizons in the Plaza of the Americas on occassion for back-up childcare. Very impressed with it: Bright Horizons | Bright Horizons at the Plaza of the Americas

I heard there is a program this summer at the downtown YMCA - the T Boone Pickens YMCA. The cost sounded very reasonable.

I don't know of any drop in childcare facilities in the downtown area. We use a daycare in the federal building (on Houston). But, if you're looking for evening care, we have a sitter from our son's school that is wonderful. PM me for more info.
