Hi all,

Has anyone bought a home from First texas homes? curious to know why they offer lower prices for larger sq ft compared to other builders? How is their workmanship and the materials they use. Please share your experiences. Thanks

First Texas Homes is a good builder in my opinion. It is owned by a small family and they have less than 20 floorplans that they build and because they are so popular and sell very well they are not messing with the formula. They don't spend any money on marketing or a design center and that is one of the reasons they keep their prices lower. Less hands in the cookie jar so more saved on towards the sales prices.

They use a 3rd party company for their walk through which is great IMO.

In the last 2 years I've had 3 clients build with First Texas. They did a very good job & my clients were very pleased. They give have designs & value for the money.

Answering your other thread - A good agent who does a lot of new construction can help you make the right decisions on how to spend your money and what to add or not add to the house to make it more enjoyable and increase it's value. For example I always help my clients pick out the best lot and which way the house should be flipped, etc.

We considered going with First Texas until we hired a Home Energy Inspector to go over the home. The AC was from 1996 it didn't have the correct panel box for the electric circuits, and all the over head lighting was off 1 Breaker. Brought it up to the agent since the building director wont speak to clients and were told they would not change anything in the home. Needless to say we moved on not willing to spen 283K on a home not up to code. We chose Grand View Builders much better quality builder and more willing to do more cutomizable features. Willing and ready to do for their clients to meet their clients needs. Very Happy with them.

If you want to see the construction of some First Texas Homes, there is a new subdivision they are building in Lewisville off Valley Blvd and Bellaire, I think.

Some are finished and the rest are in the different building stages from pouring slabs to framing. They have a few townhouses there also. I'm not terribly impressed, but you can see how they are built. Some of the finishing details aren't great. But, the price is lower.
