You are not going to find it nowhere in North Texas. Maybe out of state.

My sister lives in Arkansas near Ft. Smith and they get lots more snow than we do.

you can get to Red River in a day's drive--but it is a hard day's
you can also get to some parts of Colorado within 20 hrs...
if you are talking skiing...

Depends. Last year we had 8+" of snow. Not a lot compared to Taos or Colorado Springs, but nice just the same.

Collin County got a fair amount of snow and ice last year. Not good. We don't know how to handle it and they don't salt the roads they sand them, which is useless.

Simply put - you don't want to see snow in Texas unless you are tucked up in home or on foot.

There isn't much snow within a day's trip from North Texas. Don't worry, the snow will come this winter.. and probably close enough where you don't even have to travel to see it.

In the meantime, the best place to check current snow depth is this website: National Snow Analyses - NOHRSC - The ultimate source for snow information

don't know about that. 8" last year and 6+" before that were MORE than enough snow for me!

A lot less than 20hours! Trinidad Co is 10 hours and just over Raton pass.
Colorado Springs is 12 hours add 30minutes to get to a bit west (wolf Creek, Woodmoore Woodland Park etc)

20 hours puts you almost to Montana!! Cheyenne, WY is only 15 hours from DFW!

Skiing is a 1 days drive from DFW. (now the Big Resorts etc...are about 15 hours)

But yes to "guarantee" snow you have to go up in the Mountians.

Like others have said we get snow here but it's hit or miss, just Monday Decatur had 2 inches!
Denver was hit with 2 snow storms last week (early for them) but I have been through many times in the winter with no snow in CO all along I25 until you head west up into the mountians.

Also CO will get more snow in "Spring" than in Winter. March usually has some of the biggest snowfall ammounts.
We only been delayed by snow 1 time traveling to CO in the winter (Dec-Jan) but EVERY year at Spring break(march) there is at least 1 snow during our trip.
