Dr. Pepper Snapple Group vs Fossil? (design, rated, best)

I've been offered two positions today with both of these companies. I've researched until my eyes are numb. Dr. Pepper want so pay me about 8k more a year. Fossil looks so exciting. Has anyone ever worked for these companies? if so...feedback please

Dr Pepper is a major corporation; Fossil is a family owned/operated company. VERY different.

If the family doesn't like you @ Fossil, you don't go far. Kostas or whatever his name is is legendary for his temperment.

I would see more long-term upward mobility options @ DP.

If you are enchanted by retail, try other local companies JC Penney or Pier 1. Both are well run, pay well, and generally operate as meritocracies.

Isn't it a publicly traded company, albeit one where the family owns between a quarter and a third of it? I worked there very briefly about a decade ago when the telecom industry crashed, and I - very briefly - thought I wanted back into corporate life.

The corporate culture was very nice, not so loose - as some places were back then - as to be unproductive, but with a fairly relaxed feel. No hit of micro management, and very much the approach that if you knew what needed to be done, and got it done, then no one cared too much how you got it done. If you weren't getting things done (like a co-worker) then, you got a second chance, and they would approach it once in a "lets fix this" kind of way.... but if you then failed to figure out how to manage your time, yourself, and your people..... there weren't a lot of third chances. I certainly enjoyed it more than Worldcom, but then I turned out not to be a corporate guy really.

It is publicly traded, but the family is the largest shareholder and still running the company....so it's not the same set up as a publicly traded DP.

I know more about the merchandising & design end of the company than the support staff side, so the culture could be different over there.

I just would not pass up DP which probably has a much larger finance/ accounting staff and opportunities for advancement.

DP will offer many more opportunities in your field compared with Fossil. I would rec DP.

Thanks everyone! I chose DP. Fossil wanted to know "what it would take for me to work for them" and when I tried to get them to match or even meet me halfway they were not willing to. Yeah, I didn't see myself getting much of an advancement there.
