Who gets to pick the zip code?I guess given choice almost every body in Texas would want to live in 75205 and send their kids to HPISD. :-)

The voucher holder chooses the zip code. Even if I had money, I wouldn't spend it in zip code 75205. To me, that's a waste. There's more important things to do such as take a vacation with the kids out of the country so they can learn about other cultures instead of reading it from a book. Do philanthropy work in the United States because our own back and front yard needs help (cleaning) before helping other countries and invest to increase my net worth for the benefit of my children, their children and so forth.

Unfortunately, you are going to run into a lot of landlords that won't even consider someone with a section 8 voucher because of the misconception that they are lazy, won't take care of the home etc.

The Housing Authority makes it sooo difficult for landlords to make the home section 8 approved and with the large demand for rental homes right now, homeowners are not willing to go through the modifications or hassle.

How much of the voucher is dedicated to utilities? You will have more luck finding something in McKinney than W. Plano. You will very likely have to expand your areas despite what you wish you could get.

They have best public schools which is slighltly more valuable than foreign trips though neither me nor you can live there in recent future. However, I agree with Naima that you should expand your search to Frisco and McKinney. Rentals in HP and WPlano go like hot cakes. Best of luck!
