We fatties Zbfioklyn's and it wasn't quite authentic. The crust didnt quite hit the mark, though close. Would prefer a place that also sells by the slice, but authenticity trumps that. Thanks!

I grew up in New York. Angelo & Vito's is a big thumbs down for me. The crust isn't even close IMO. It's not just about how thick or thin the crust is, it's about the good yeasty flavor and correct level of toothsome chewiness (vs sponginess). Ferrari's in Plano used to be good but they have shut down at that location. Apparently planning on opening somewhere else eventually.

I recently tried Bacci and it was good and pretty close to the right crust (Carrollton-Plano location). I haven't tried Grimaldi's but it's on my list.

There are some good wood fired Neapolitan pizza places in the area, including Testa in Frisco. That's NOT New York style pizza but it's good in its own right. It's mostly all about the crust, with few toppings or bold flavors.

Marco, Joe,Prego & Palio are well liked. I prefer Maggiano and Amore's pizzas. All of these are in Plano'75093 area.

I'm from NY and live in Plano now.

Don't know any good pizza places in Plano yet, but LOVE Grimaldi's in Allen and also Luigi's in Frisco.

The owners from Luigi's are from New York and also own Sicily's Pizza in McKinney (and I think have opened or are opening another restaurant in Flower Mound?)

Both are well worth the trip!

Yes @Gripewater, I just saw the sign for Ferrari's. One neighbor says it's great pizza and the other is not as impressed. I am still on the hunt and will try some of the places mentioned in this thread. Only a true NYer can understand how difficult a hunt this is. =)

A bit of a tangent here I know, but if anyone happens to be looking for Chicago style pizza, Central Market sells frozen Gino's East pies. Not as fresh as being there, but sure does satisfy that craving better than the Pizzeria Uno attempts.
