I did a quick search and found nothing about murder but a 08/2013 building permit for addition/alt/electrical/plumbing and change of name on deed from a person to a living trust around same time. You can find these on city & county website.

None of the names mentioned in this article are listed on county's deed records since home was built but property is located near Kensington Drive so there is a good chance that this home was a crime scene.

Other homes in this neighborhood are listed at lower price, why the heck anyone would try to sell a gruesome place at a higher price.

You are right. That's another house, not this one. This is probably suffering from the stigma of going stale.

Um...how do you reckon? The crime didn't occur at this address or even on that street, I don't see why it should be stigmatized by it.

I meant there is a chance but probably low otherwise they wouldn't try to list it higher than nearby homes. Their stigma is likely due to long time on market for whatever reason.

Oh boy. Thank you to those of you who were able to find out that it was on Kensington. I remembered the neighborhood (because it *was* such a gruesome event). But not the street. So I fully doubt now that it's the problem. And I certainly don't think a murder down the street has tainted this home on Barrington.

I have been to the house. Full baths with bedroom are upstairs. Only a half bath is on first floor. it seems having master bedroom upstairs with kids bedroom might have been good floor plan in last decade. Off recently not having a bedroom downstairs slims the potential category of buyers. Thatz what my realtor said.

Upstairs master bedrooms are not the norm in this area. Most people prefer the master down. Having said that, I can't imagine that would be the reason that house would still be sitting on the market for that long in this THIS market.

ETA: After looking a little more closely at the MLS pictures, it looks like the floor plan might be a little (or a lot) strange. That entry hall make it look like a 70s office building.

I think that the photos need improving for one thing. The surfaces ~ floors, carpet, counter tops, walls, ceilings ~ all look mottled. Like the OP, many people are looking online first and they need a better first impression.

The sellers really need to spend a little money and update the interior. Buyers have watched lots of HGTV and want a move in ready house. We did this with a house in Houston and sold in less than a week. My MIL lived in a retirement community and there were several houses for sale in that neighborhood when she passed. Hubby and his brothers and sisters updated the house and it sold in just a couple of weeks, while others lingered for months.

Right pricing always helps too.

I think they are asking too much, look at the comps. It only has two and a half baths, the lesser priced surrounding homes have three or three and a half. The square footage is deceiving because they included the sunroom. The sunroom, with it's window air-conditioning unit, is not exactly ideal living space. The lot may be a tad larger, but the back yard is tiny. $284,500 is too much for that house. If you really love it, I'd offer $264,500 with them paying half the closing costs. Seriously, one of the comp houses is $265,000 with five bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It's square footage is almost the same, minus the deceptive sunroom. The lot itself is smaller, but it has all hardwood flooring and so on. Weigh the comps and good luck.
