Live in wylie and found this snake hiding under bbq grill. Anyone know the type and if its poisonous?

Yup, a rat snake. Not poisonous, but they can be aggressive and they do bite. Give it a wide margin.

Kids used to catch them. My neighbor has two in a terrarium he uses as a middle school science teacher.

Caught one of those earlier this year. Had only seen one baby snake around here for 4 years, then all of a sudden find a 3 ft long one in the yard. Mulched him into the yard with the mower.

That was mean and unnecessary. Poor snake.

Better me killing it with the mower quickly than my dog using him for a chew toy.
