We signed up for a new home (Under construction) in the Lewisville Area.
Wanted to see what each of you thinks on the DFW Real Estate currently.
Are house prices in the DFW Area really going down or are they stable?
In general how does DFW react to housing market slow downs(considering the last 20 years history)?

Glad to be the first to reply and I'm always on the glass is half full side so with that thought in mind-This market is one of the few that has really maintained the value and perhaps that's becasue we didn't see a huge increase in values over the past ten years where many other areas have and it turns out it was an inflated increase. So I have a positive outlook for North Texas and I believe if you choose to buy now before the election in November you will be able to secure great interest rates and even have a shot at some foreclosure properties. Or short Sale properties if you can wait a bit longer to close these are an option too! Now all that said I do have one of those REALTOR Icons by my name so take that for what it is. A positive REALTOR opinion! When I get the monthly NAR surveys they hear the same thing from me. I do believe at least on the North side of Dallas we are holding and in a stable pattern at the moment. A slow down in building new builds just ups the demand for pre-owned homes and there are enough of them to still fill the need. Good Luck

i am also wondering the same thing. i start work in the fall, so i am looking for a condo to buy downtown... i have seen the prices drop substantially over the last 3 months or so.. and i think they will continue to do so. however it is so hard to find an agent who is willing to help me buy! so i am doing as much of the work by myself as i can.

Just curious but what condo properties dropped significantly in the last 3 months?

That makes sense. Do you know how much they dropped?

i saw one go from 509 to 420, and i wouldn't be surprised if it sold for much, much lower.
