Any personal experiences with either builder? I am still trying to figure out if it is better for us to build new vs buy and renovate according to personal style...but would like some personal opinions. When it comes to plan, I liked the DW and Lennar Next Gen, but I have no personal experience with them. I own houses build by (Beazer...ughhh; Pulte...so, so; and custom home local builders). My brother liked DW in Houston but no personal experience; he bought a Lennar home and has tons of cracks (1 year old home), although the finishes are decent.
Please offer personal info...do you own DW house? How does it hold up? Any other builder? I saw that Darling homes are well respected and have little or no complaints, but so far I did not like their plans. Any suggestions? There are so many builders in DFW...is hard to choose. Quality is more important than price per sqft.

I used to work at Lennar. Good value for sure. I would say construction is better at David Weekly, but you will be paying more. DW will also allow changes. Lennar wont. I dont think either would be a bad choice.

I am starting the process to build with Lennar. Mikestrong would you mind if I DM you with some questions?

I would pick an older home with a quality builder over newer one from Lennar.

Depends the age. Also, with the lack of inventory right now. The pre existing that are left can have alot to be desired. What do you consider a quality builder?

I am considering older homes as well, but it is so hard to figure out how good and efficient the house is. I am not at all impressed with some of the builders, and I am not sure how to proceed...hopefully will figure out soon. We had the best experiences with custom local builder in the past but even then we had to be very involved in the building process.
I wish somebody would chime in an write about their experiences with certain builders :-)

TOS and liability issues prevent the kind of discussion you are seeking.

I live in a 10 y/o Lennar house and its only problem is a foundation one, likely caused by improperly watering by the first, and young, owners.
