Ok all. So it's been a crazy week but I think we've narrowed down our search to Dallas. So...if all goes according to plan, we will be moving to the Dallas within the next few months. We want: great schools, great active family neighborhood (love that our kids can play outside now with other little kids), close to a cute downtown (unique restaurants, shopping) and within 30 minutes to DFW airport.

Any suggestions? Our budget is under $425K but would probably prefer to stay around $375-400K if we could. We have 3 kids (5, 3 and 1). Any ideas would be much appreciated. We're going to do a scouting trip in the next couple weeks and would love to check out some specific areas.

I originally posted this in TX but was told this would be a better spot (obviously)!

Coppell and FlowerMound would be my two choices for location, schools and your budget.

And I would add Grapevine/Colleyville to the above recs! Your price range is the hot one so you might have to cast a wider net. Best of luck! DFW is a great area.

What do you mean hot one? I have seen Colleyville come up a bunch when I'm doing research. Would that be the best school for our price range?

They mean your price range is a hot one, IE there are a lot of buyers in the market for that price range.

Is the market pretty active down there? Fast?

Multiple offer situations are very common.

Incredibly. MOST (more than 50%) of houses in the desirable DFW areas are only on the market about 24-48 hours before receiving multiple offers at full asking price. It will heat up even more come spring and summer.

My response from your other thread:

Grapevine or Flower Mound. Grapevine has the better downtown, but I find Flower Mound to be a prettier area. I believe Flower Mound schools are a bit better, too. You'll be able to get a very nice house in either area for that budget.

We are looking at houses in Flower Mound in the $350,000 to $400,000 range, and there are plenty that are very nice, but they go quickly. Between Grapevine, Colleyville, and Flower Mound, the schools are all very good and the areas are all very nice, so it will mainly come down to which one you prefer the feel of. I don't think you can wrong with any of those three. Coppell is very nice, too, but for some reason I just don't like it - totally a personal opinion and you may love it.
