You mean like the people in the Eastern Hills neighborhood in Garland?

I don't have that problem where I live in the Arlington area. There are 4 parks within 1 1/2 miles of our house. Two of them have ponds with wildlife and one of them has a disc golf course, nature trails and trails where you can ride a horse. The closest golf course is much further away. If the city values parks the city will build parks.

Plano is blessed with plenty of parks and golf courses. We have no complaints.

Masterplanned communities like Lakewood and Highland Park Village set the standard for future developments. The Golf Course became a prerequisite for such developments. They weren't intented to be centers for luxury stores. Lakewood still isn't a luxury store development area. It is probably the most gorgeous area for retail though. The Lake Cliff area is similar. Wynnwood built south of there seems to have been developed without a golf course. A kid can tell you though. Someone put a lot of their heart and soul into it trying to make it special.
So, in North Dallas, to create a new masterplanned community, an important centerpiece was the prerequisite of a golfcourse.

If there is another city in the world like Plano, I'd like to know about it. It has a positive symbiotic relationship with every city located around it.

Plano is a suburban wasteland. I guess if you love corporate welfare, then you'd love Plano.

Funny. A lot of people also wrongly say the same thing about Dallas.

You have to put things in perspective. You can't compare Plano with places like NY or SanFran. It's a conveniently located suburb with low crime, lots of jobs, good city government, top public schools, not far from top private schools, decent housing, quick access to two big airports, good community college, near a good state university, and lots of hospitals, restaurants, parks, shopping, golf, kidcentric activities, extra. It's far from near perfect cute towns with perfect climate we all dream about but a decent place to raise family.

You are arguing that Plano is typical. Okay, compare another suburban wasteland to it. From twelve o'clock going clockwise around the dial, Plano is surrounded by Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Richardson, North Dallas, Addison/Farmers Branch, Carrolton, and The Colony. It has a unique symbiotic relationship with every city surrounding it. It is not parasitic like the city of Dallas. Plano has become just as principle of a city as Fort Worth and Irving.

Most all new communities being developed dont have them due to the cost of land.
