I am travelling internationally. I dont know much about liquor.

I have to buy couple of bottles liquor for my friend.

Is it cheaper buying in costco or duty free in dallas airport?

My experience, I found duty free priced the same or similar to large stores such as costco or total wines, however, if you purchase liquor outside of the airport, you will have to put it into your checked luggage, which means you might have to think about weight restrictions, paying for over-weight luggage etc.

with buying at airport duty free, you get to take the liquor with you on without having to put it into checked luggage.

Don't put liquor in a checked bag. It could break, and there's also the weight issue. Just buy it at the duty free store.

If you are transiting through an international airport and have to go through a security check, liquids in carry-on bags may not be allowed.

I don't have weight issues. But I did not think about bottle breaks.

What amount? The large bottles (1.75l) are often available in plastic. They can go into the checked luggage with no issues.

Crappy liquor is sold in plastic. Good liquor is sold in glass.

Lol, ok, if you want single malt might be difficult to get in plastic. A lot of the main stream stuff (including non-crappy) is available in plastic, the OP didn't specify what he/she wants to buy.

If you carry on...also think about connections.
Just connected in Tokyo and saw a group of 4 in front of me needing to consume a bottle before they go through security for 2nd time.
Seems like most of the connecting airports now rescreen.....so you want to check that.
