I bought a 6 pack beer from this store around Dallas metro(famous place in town). On coming home, I removed the bottled beers from its case in order to store it in refrigerator and noticed it was totally dusty and kinda moldy all over the inside of the case. Seems like they might have refilled the shelf from whatever was stored in the storage for a while. Is it legal to sell alcohol/food products stored under minimal hygienic conditions? I had to rinse the beer bottles before consuming it as it was covered in the dust/mold.

Aren't there certain food quality standards that needs to be met while owning/running a food store and if this practice is even allowed?

It happens. I bought something from Whole Foods recently that went moldy within a day. I took it back and exchanged it.

If you shop at this place regularly and haven't had issues before, just return it or exchange it. I highly doubt it's a sinister plot to sell beer in moldy cardboard 6pks - could have come from the bottler that way, could have molded over in transit, or maybe it was just really old inventory in that store. Who knows. You didn't notice it so chances are whoever works in receiving or restocking didn't either.

Thanks TurtleCreek80. It's an Asian store and imported beer. I have heard of similar incidents in such places. Unfortunately not that great in maintaining the American standards.

that stinks and i dont think its funny or that you are wrongfully offended.
So with a grain of salt Ive never believed any beverage store or smokers shop gave the first care about anything except pushing their gov't approved drugs and intoxicants. all ive been in ( cause i like responsible intoxication too) have been barely presentable dirty places.

this bud's for this not happening again soon!
