Ok all. This is another "I'm relocating to Dallas soon" posts. So yeah I'll be relocating to Dallas in the next couple months. I'm looking for a modern/newer 1bdrm on the 900-1000 dollar range if possible. I want to be in a decent suburb where there ample amenities. Not too far from downtown Dallas. Maybe 20-30 minutes out. I've stayed in Atlanta before so traffic is no issue for me lol. I'll be in town Thursday and will be doing some apartment hunting. What do you guys think can fit what I'm looking for? This will be my first Dallas trip.

Probably your best bet will be Las Colinas. Zip codes 75062 and 75039. Budget will be a bit tight but you might find something on the newish side in that area.

Ok I'll look into that area. Doesn't have to be brand new. Maybe something built within the last 10 years. Can you think of any other areas perhaps?

Possibly Addison. Your budget might be a bit tight, and I’m not sure if there’s anything that’s ten years old or newer.

You can find suburban areas that are still "Dallas" and that will take about 20 minutes to get downtown (getting out of the suburban area streets to get to 75 or 635 sometimes takes a while with traffic and lights). Dallas isn't such a "walking" city, so you may want to look at places that I would describe as urban living centers for the convenience that you mentioned. Places around White Rock Lake, like Lake Highlands, might fit what you are looking for. Most of Lake Highlands is considered Richardson, but parts of Dallas reach into it, too. https://neighborhoods.dmagazine.com/...ake-highlands/

Ok ok. So are there any general areas that are considered decent with amenities? Like north, south, east, west of Dallas proper? I'm coming from Memphis and I don't want to move into any hoods lol. I know all big cities got em.

20 minutes from downtown during rush hour puts you still in Dallas. Not in a suburb. The median 1br rent (for old and new complexes) is $1200/mo for a 1br. What I’m getting at is I don’t think your criteria is realistic - either drive time or budget is going to have to “give”.

Addison is less expensive and probably right at the 20 minute mark. I’d check there first. Just know you’ll be paying $3/4 in tolls daily to commute downtown in 20 minutes.

Not sure if ANYTHING in The Village is still under $1000/mo but it is another good complex for transplants that’s off 75 and Lovers (75214). Safe area with everything you need nearby. Do NOT look at any of the cheaper apartments just north of Northwest Highway from the Village as that is not a safe neighborhood.

I don’t think you can make it from Las Collinas downtown in 20 minutes. I used to work there when I lived in Uptown and it was about 30 minutes. That was back in 2010, too.

Well, I actually stayed within 285 in Atlanta. So I'd be looking at around 1100 to 1200 a month you think? If I'm anywhere inside the 635 loop?
