Dallas is pretty spread out. What kind of attractions did you have in mind? Hotel Palomar is cool and located near shopping at Mockingbird Station. There's the Westin at the Galleria (more shopping) and The Melrose is also walking distance to shops/restaurants and Hotel ZaZa fits that bill too. As you can tell, shopping is a sport here.

This will be the hippest spot in Dallas in June:

Luxury Collection Dallas Hotels: The Joule, A Luxury Collection Hotel - Hotel Rooms at luxury.com

on Main Street right in the thick of Downtown Dallas.

I'd get a hotel in Uptown. Just Google "uptown dallas hotel" for a range of prices.

There are a lot of great restaurants in that area. It's close to the best aquarium I've ever been to (including Monterey), the Dallas World Aquarium. Seriously, you have to visit the DWA. It's that awesome.

You also have the Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Center right there.

The Sixth Floor Museum (JFK assassination) is nearby too at the West End.

You definitely have to get tickets to the Meyerson Symphony Hall, which is right there too.

You'll need to rent a car if you want to go to an amusement park, which would be Six Flags in Arlington. That is also where you would see a MLB game. It's about 20 miles west of downtown Dallas. There is also a big water park in Arlington (smaller water parks scattered all over DFW).

Also take the car to Fort Worth for the day and visit the world-renowned Kimbell Art Museum, the Forth Worth Zoo (better than Dallas') and the Stockyards. You can actually take a train to Fort Worth from The West End Union Station, if you want to do that, but I don't know how far the zoo and museum are from the station in Fort Worth.

Dallas Chidren's Theatre is really good too for kids.

The Dallas Arboretum is also a must on a nice day. It's fantastic.

Shopping is probably best at The Galleria if you want a mall (it has ice skating too) or Highland Park Village (for chi chi).

We really love the Corinthian B&B. It was close to everything, parking was great, and it is very, very nice. We loved it and would definitely stay again (and will be having family stay there when they visit us). The prices are also very reasonable. We stayed the first lady suite and we wouldn't have changed a thing.

think it all depends on whether or not you have children and how old they are if you do

water park is in Arlington as is 6 flags amusement park
Ranger stadium for baseball (they are doing fairly well this spring)
Frisco has baseball team as well
the Dallas zoo is ok but the FTW zoo is better

if you are coming in for job interview (a la "teacher" nametag) then you might want to spend time visiting in area you might live in to see what whether you like...
