Oh, and Steak and Ale, it was the first place that had this strange deal where you got up and went to the salad bar and loaded up your own plate. This was in the 1970s.

That's really sad especially if you work there and had no clue. This economy is just doing a number on everyone. I saw where Shoe Pavillion filed for Chapt 11 protection. Starbucks closing 600 stores. But it's the small businessman/woman that we don't hear anything about.
I remember Bennigans from years ago too but just wasn't anywhere that stood out for me.

Shoe Pavilion does not surprise me, their stuff was low quality. DSW is much nicer. Starbucks in addition to closing 600 store is laying off 1000 employees as well.

Um that Bennigan's in the galleria has been gone for like 2 years. The galleria also just lost Sushi Samba.

Hopefully this means more Mom and Pop coffee shops with slim and healthy patrons since the big chain will be leaving.....

What ever happened to Steak & Ale ? They were a real good steak house at one time, maybe they couldn't compete with the Outbacks.

I have fond memories of S & A. Great salad bar, hot bread & very good steaks for the money.

Bennigan's buffalo chicken salad was the best...

Gol-ding-it! I'll be sad to see 'em go.
