I found some pretty decent apartments around my price range called the Georgian Apartments. The address is 18880 Marsh Lane, Dallas, Texas 75287. I checked about their website about the leasing information and mapped it on Google maps street view. They look really nice. It was weird because I actually vividly remember passing those actual apartments on Marsh Lane between Timberglen Road and Rosemeade Parkway. Do you guys know anything about the Georgian Apartments?

I haven't lived in those apartments but I lived for 8 years on Rosemeade and Midway. The traffic there is horrible. It was a nice area about 9 years ago when I moved out. Now it is mostly a singles scene. Lots of bars/restaurants around Rosemeade and Midway. It was not a family atmosphere for our family as it took nearly 30 mins to drive our daughter to school when the school was only like 5 mins. away! Hence the move to McKinney.
Where will you be working? Are you single or married? Do you have kids? These are all things to take into consideration.

I've heard and this is only rumor ...that that area of town isn't as safe as it use to be. I've had friends (house) that recently moved from that area due to crime in the area. They didn't feel safe. I also have a friend whose daughter and husband have a house in that area and they have heard gun shots on several occasion from the apts. right behind them. I'm not sure if these are the Georgian or not? But it is in the same general area. I know at one time the Georgian was nice but not sure today what it is like. I do know that traffic is not the best....it is doable but not preferable. I lived over there off Timeberglen and the traffic was bad even back in the day when I lived over there.

Oh wow. Is it generally the 75287 zip code that is considered not safe? I have to agree with you on the traffic. It can get crazy during rush hour.

Both families I made reference lived or live in 75287. I lived there in the late 80's and actually was starting to feel uncomfortable in that area, back then. It may be Carrollton/Plano zip but I know at one time they were serviced by the Dallas Police and Fire Dept. which honestly I dont' know what the service is like in that area. Quick service or slow???? There are still some nice homes and places over there, but it is mixed in between some of the not so nice areas. I'm wondering if you could find a police report on that area to see which are the better areas and which are the weaker areas. Honestly, I'm not sure that you can say any one city or zip is perfect. I think it is a matter of doing your research.

Thanks for the info. If the 75287 area zip is not safe, I will definitely check out some apartments in West Plano. I know they are probably expensive but I will continue to do my research.

Back in 1993 when we lived there they found the body of a girl up on the roof of the Stop N Go. Also, back then there was no Bush Turnpike and our apts. backed up to a large field. We had reason to believe there were drug deals going on in there because we would see cars go into the fields and turn off their lights.. pretty fishy. That's why we moved up to McKinney. I wouldn't live there again.

Goodness! I had no idea that the 75287 was so dangerous back then. Would you say that the area is generally safer today then in the past? I find that it seems like a nice area (especially on Marsh Ln. near the Georgian). If it is not any safer today, then I will definitely consider apartments somewhere in west Plano.
