The actor Billy Zane has relocated to our fair metro for an njdefinite amount of time to do a new TV series for Fox. It's a mid-season replacement at this point, so he may be with us only a few weeks... but if the series takes off, he'll be a regular fixture in town. He's apparently having a good time and is keeping pretty busy enjoying all the things there are to do in the DFW area.

Zane is the actor who played Kate Winslett's mean fiance in the movie "Titanic". He had a more sympathetic role as a good-guy bombadier in the WWII film "Memphis Belle".

Zane expresses his love of and pleasure with, Dallas, in this special report from a local newspaper:

On the Set With Billy Zane, a Cool Dude and, Now, "a Citizen of Dallas and So Happy To Be" - Dallas News - Unfair Park

Oh wow this is some cool stuff. To be honest I had a crush on him when he played in Tales from the Crypt: Demon's Night and Lake Consequence. Maybe I'll see him out one night

I'm gonna have to go tell my best friend she had such a crush on him back in the mid to late 90's.

Though it was incredibly brief, my favorite (and maybe uncredited?) Zane moment has to be from Zoolander! He's best when he's not taking himself too seriously. Shoot, now I have to go Youtube that.

But he does seem serious about his love of the area. Considering it for a 2nd home? Gotta say if *I* had the Hollywood bucks I wouldn't consider Dallas a terribly attractive choice, but cool on him for diggin' our city. I anticipate a lot of Dallas gals getting their swoon on.

You're right about him being at his best when he's not taking himself too seriously. I liked him best on Charmed.

Yeah, the ladies will probably go gaga if they see him in a club somewhere, or maybe even in a Whole Foods.

I wouldn't be that diffident on our fair city. There are some celebrities that have had a good time here. Diane Keaton used to come into town as often as she could when she was making a picture in Shreveport. Gwynneth Paltrow made Dallas her home base when her husband was doing the regional shows, touring with Coldplay. Diana Kraal stayed over at the Hotel Palomar for a few days after her gig with the Dallas Symphony.

anyone who appreciates Billy Zane should watch Dead Calm--early Aussie film for him and Nicole Kidman (this flick got her the role where she played dr opposite Tom Cruise in that dreadful racing movie where his name was Cole Trickle --they married after that)...
it is really, really good movie and Sam Neill who is so underappreciated has a tremendously demanding and suspenseful sequence...
if you have not seen it--definitely Netflix it or look for it at Best Buy

I'd forgotten about that movie! It is very good and one that definitely jarred me for a few days. :-)
