I have a 2yr old son. I want to put him in a school so he can start learning and socialize. Also because he is always at home playing by himself because he's only child. I was looking at Day Care but they are SUPER expensive!! I also looked up a few Early headstart nearby but they are by waiting list. My question is; The government Early HeadStarts are the ones that works by waiting list? Is there any other free or affordable option that I don't have to wait so long? I want to enroll him to start in january.

Are you looking for full-time care (8-5) or a few half days a week? It's unclear from your post.

Many churches offer good pre-school programs which run 1/2 days a few days a week or 1/2 days M-F for older kids. If you or someone else is at home with him the rest of the time, I'd recommend these first. They do charge tuition but it's small compared to the cost of full-time daycare.

Not sure about the early headstart programs, but you can look into Mothers Day Out programs run by local groups and churches. They are usually relatively inexpensive for a few hours a week.

Where do you live? In the heart of Dallas, HP Presby and UP Methodist are highly respected.

I would vouch for Church run preschool programs over the 'Montessori's' sprouting all over DFW. You can do couple of days a week half a day. Most Church preschools run full and might have a waiting list too.

Turtlecreek's advice is good...if you only require part time school a few hours a day a couple of days a week, many churches have good programs that are relatively inexpensive. Many church programs fill quickly and offer priority to their members, so you may have the best shot at your own church (if you have one). Your city recreation centers and local Y may also offer preschool age classes and enrichment activities. Good luck!
