2015 Dayton and Surroundings Zip Code Search by Wealth (Cincinnati, Kettering: home, school district)

For once, a DBJ "list" that is actually (somewhat) helpful and manipulative (in a good way).

Keep in mind, that many area zip codes don't have their specific city / school district listed under "Post Office Name." For example, Beavercreek actually doesn't have a quote-unquote post office under the zip code system. It is part of Dayton's set of zip codes. So Beavercreek will show as Dayton despite accepting mail addressed for Beavercreek. And some of "Dayton / Beavercreek's" zip codes stretch into Riverside and Kettering. And Beavercreek Township shares the its zip code with a large one encompassing Xenia and its surroundings (45385).

So, despite it looking like Dayton is home to the third wealthiest zip code, it isn't. And many in Butler and Warren Counties shouldn't even count (Kings Mills / Mason is primarily a Cincinnati suburb), so the point is take the rankings with a grain of salt.

Basically, watch the county. And use Google Maps (linked as well) and search by zip code to see its boundaries. City-Data also has data by zip. I just find Google Maps easier to manipulate.

Yeah, mine was listed in the wrong city and county . They are interesting to look at. You can kind of know what ones will be where if you know where they are located (based on other factors). Some will be surprises.

Didn't follow that too well, but as I understand it, 454-- is "Dayton" (mail carried out of the Dayton post office) while 453-- is suburban Dayton but likewise carried out of the Dayton post office.

Again as I understand it, the middle number (the second "4" in regard to Dayton) designates the community, i.e., 452-- is Cincinnati.

You start at the main post office. The first ring around it is the "0" section (45404, 45405, etc.) and beyond that is the "1" section (45414, 45415, etc.) Once you change the middle number, however, the mail routes out of a different town.

What's the zip for the base (not that I can't look it up, but I'm kind of overwhelmed at the moment with the new Windows stuff).

^Quick search shows Area A and the southern half of Area B is 45433.
