I currently live in NY and considering a retirement move to Delaware. What are the best Hospitals, Trauma Centers in the state ? And how does Delaware's medical system compare to other states ?

How is the 911 ambulance system ? Are they paid professional or volunteer ? Are they Level IV Medics or just EMTs ? In my town upstate unfortunately we have no Trauma Centers locally and the Fire and Ambulance are strictly volunteer/ EMT. Something I would hope to avoid when I move.

Also how are the winters compared to NY ? I've read some conflicting opinions whereas some say Delaware is mostly milder and others that it is basically the same.

Wow, never considered availability of trauma centers pre-relocation. But I have considered availability of ambulance service. Even before reading your post I had planned to start asking realtors that question.

Delaware Trauma System

As for weather. Just keep an eye on weather underground. It is going to be milder than northern New York state.

You have some good questions. We also live in NY (Long Island) and are considering Delaware for retirement (despite my user ID). Good to know Kent County has a good trauma hospital. Beebe was no surprise. Of course Christiana would be top tier.

Hope I'm not off topic, but anyone who lives in northern Delaware ... roughly the greater Wilmington area ... is within a 50 mile drive or so to two of the best (in the top 10 in the US) hospitals in the entire country: Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

I see they are affiliated with Penn Medicine, in other words HUP ... the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
