Trying real hard to make Delaware my home. Considering central Delaware and Dover specifically. Since I currently live in Millville, NJ with a little bitty race track kind of concerned with the World Renowned Super Big Grade A Real Deal NASCAR Race Track in Dover.

How far away from the Dover track is noise an issue for a homeowner who likes quite. I am guessing inside of 2 - 3 miles. Or are we talking 5 plus miles?

You do know that NASCAR only visits Dover International Speedway a few weekends a year? This year NASCAR scheduled racing at the Monster Mile for May and October. Other than that according to their website there aren't many motorsports events. Dover International Speedway#

Wow, surprised to read that. And they don't rent the track for practice?

I think traffic around races and concerts would be a much bigger concern than noise.

Yes, I figure race day would be best spent at home.

As for noise, I can't quite figure this out??

We're in the Towns of Camden and Wyoming, and I never hear Nascar sounds (I refuse to call it "noise" ).
When we go to Dover Downs Slots during race week, yes, we hear the cars practicing. We love that! I've been on Loockerman St. in Dover during race week practices and the Saturday 200 mi race, and don't hear the cars. Personally, NJBoy....I think you're over-reacting. If you buy in Persimmon Park Place, or on Leipsic Road (East side of Rt. 13) you'll probably hear cars in the distance. If you buy in Town Pointe, Whiteoak, or any of those subdivisions along Rt. 13, you'll probably hear some car motors in the distance.

So, you're o.k. with Firefly at Dover Downs and the rock music playing until 1 in the morning? Then, Big Barrel following the next week at Dover Downs? Nascar has, roughly, 113,000 (down from 135,000) seats. Attendance is steadily declining, and there will be less tickets sold this year, as they've taken out a lot of seating. FireFly (3 day event) had, roughly, 90,000 attendees, and Big Barrell (3 day event) had, roughly, 30,000 attendees. Delaware Junction (3 day event) in Harrington, is the newest 3 day festival added, smaller, but still a big crowd for Delaware.

I'm o.k. with all of this, don't hear any of it from our house, but go to these events. It's good for our economy.

Many thanks. And when I move to Delaware I am sure I will be going to an occasional race. Hopefully get to watch some practice. Maybe even take a few laps myself.

Not sure, but I think they discontinued that. My husband did it about 5 years ago. He was Whiter than White when he got out of the car. What was worse, he couldn't figure how to get OUT of the car! LOL

My wife got me that gift about 10 years ago, I was able to do 10 laps by myself, plus 4 laps with a driver, holy cow did I have heart attack with the driver, I threatened him on the second lap to slow down or I was going to hit him with the helmet they made us wear, lol.

I don't think people understand how steep the banking really is, if someone slipped while walking on the track you would roll to bottom quickly, it's scary, plus the pro drivers keep you next to the wall, I mean, inches from the wall at speeds of over 120 mph.. So the right side of the car is inches from the wall, that means the passenger, your husband, myself, is inches from the wall, I wouldn't even think of doing it again with a driver.
