Looking for information on living on the outskirts of Georgetown, within about a 15 mile radius of the Harbeson area. Looking to retire here. Any comments about wells and septic systems? Crime? School system-Although we are retired my younger family may consider moving to the area also, and this would be a concern of theirs. Any comments, opinions, of even alternate areas to consider are greatly appreciated.

Harbeson is a nice little town. Crime is low. There is nothing there, but it's so close to Millsboro and Lewes that it's not an issue. Real Estate prices are crazy because it's within 50 miles of the beach. Actually saw a house listed in Ellendale as being "minutes from the beach". If you're building, you'll have to get a septic system approved. That means engineered plans. Could be a ground level system or a mound system depending how it perks. Wells are usually not too deep here. The water table is fairly high. I can't help with school systems.

Thank you for your response. I am retired, am am looking for a quieter area to move to. Am looking for a fairly new home on 3/4+ plus acres. Very few offerings in a 55+ community. Looking to live in a subdivision with an older group. Not that I don't like kids, but we have been there and done that. And parents today do not seem to "manner" their kids. So hopefully something will turn up.

Have you considered Independence or Heritage Shores?

Check HOA fees early when reviewing properties. And figure out what the HOA owns. In Delaware the HOA can own the streets, storm sewers, street lights, etc, etc...
