It’s too bad that all Delaware posters don’t see it that way.

So you know I am really bored when I actually answer those bloody robocalls. Just yesterday for some giggles I decided to toy with the person who tole me I had won a new Mercedes and a million dollars. I said I didn't like Mercedes and thanks, but even totally free I would have to turn it down because I really don't like Mercedes. So he said, how about a BMW, I said no thanks but I would like a KIA, he tried to convince me that a millionaire doesn't have to drive a KIA, but if that is what I want, he can get me one. Then I asked if I could take the million in increments so I didn't have to tell everyone and have a million phone calls of people looking for money from me. He said the car he could change but not the payout, so I said ok, how about if instead of sending it to me could he send it to a charity that I would name. He then guessed that I was just toying with him and hung up. It was kinda fun to do to them what they are trying to do to us!!!

TOLD YOU I AM BORED

I guess I haven’t had to resort to talking with a spammer to pass the time - yet! I’m oddly enough not bored. I do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise each day (plenty of suggestions on the web), I have a nook full of books, there is Netflix, and I’ve cleaned out several drawers. The hubby and I have made some delicious dinners and had great conversations over a bottle of wine before doing the dishes. We’ve been able to get out for walks when the weather permits.

All that said, I’ve also escaped my own four walls by making 2 trips to Seaford to check in on elderly family members in the last couple of weeks. I have had concerns about bringing the virus in or taking it out, but with family, you have to do what you have to do.

I’ve made it a point to avoid watching too much news. I read a bit each morning on my iPad, try to watch half an hour of local news and I spend 30 minutes with Lester Holt each night, but I don’t saturate myself with wall-to-wall coverage. Reading, walking, cooking and escaping into tv and movies is heathy at this time - at least for me. There is only so much I can do about all this, so I stay informed on the news but not consumed with it.

The only positive about this whole fiasco is that it’s spring, and as long as we practice social distancing, we can still enjoy nature. I do miss concerts, theatre, bustling streets and busy restaurants, but what can we do?

Nuts: I love your sense of humor! That's a special trait to have!
I'm considered "essential" as I work with Veterans every day, as you know. New safety precautions are provided to me by my regional office each day as I travel the entire State of Delaware, and each day is different for me. If it were not for Veterans, I would not be energized about working at age 79. Thanks for being up-lifting (and entertaining) !

RDLR, you are so sweet. I am pretty sure the nuns from grammar schools would dispute that. I seem to recall being told "not everything is supposed to be funny.!" I have always held that life is either "absurdly real or really absurd." I guess no one will have a problem deciding which one reflects my philosophy.

I wish I would have video'd the free for all at Walmart the other day as the pallet of TP was being brought out. Suffice to day the guy could have stood at the door to the stock room instead of trying to negotiate the aisle all while trying not to hit one of the idiots that were trying to open cartons and walk with him.

Now you've done it! Look for another caravan of Pennsylvania, NJ people racing down here, now that they know we have TP. Have you noticed the, more than usual, out-of-state license tags in Delaware? On my travels, I see them all the time, most heading south. About the nuns.....I remember those days well, and how that ruler smacking the top of my hands felt!

Travel questions regarding MD. To Delaware
I broke my leg and had it operated on Friday. I need to get back and forth to Dr appt. My girlfriend is the only person who can do this for me and unfortunately lives in Parsonsburg Md. I'm just wondering how this can work she stays over 95% of the time but with MD tags is there anything that can be done? Thanks Greg

Greg, so sorry for your mishap! Certainly, the MD tags will not be a problem. If you are stopped by a local or state officer, I'm sure they will understand after seeing your leg. They are more concerned with those who are leaving their home state because of the virus. Good luck to you! (I was working in Rehoboth Beach and Ocean View today, and saw a few out of state tags. )

I have seen many out-of-state tags here in OV while I am out running--many in Bethany Bay. I don't leave my house other than to go on morning runs nearby so I am sure that's not the only place. There are quite a few rentals there and I was told many from up north are renting here as long as they can if they don't have a summer home. Now, that may have changed after the governor's order yesterday. My husband said he saw many out-of-staters headed north yesterday on his way to work. However, we have been inundated with out-of-staters since St. Patrick's weekend. A couple of my weekend neighbors from Staten Island, NY are down and I guess they are staying here for awhile.

Boring times, but really big things happening here! Homemade spaghetti & meatballs, toasted Italian garlic bread, a big salad, and cherry cheesecake for dessert! ..... Just trying to spread some positive thoughts in this depressing time. Comfort food always works for me.
