As they advertise they say a water flosser is much better than flossing. But that is advertising and one can never go by it. Anyone use it. They also calll it a water pik I think.

We had a water pik growing up, it was great. The ones they have now are much improved over the old ones. It gets the debris out from between the teeth *much* better than floss does; even after flossing, often a popcorn kernel will still be stuck between a bridge and my gumline. It is -especially- amazingly wonderful for people with braces. I don't have one now because I don't have a place to put it in our bathroom. No shelving yet. But I'd definitely buy one again once the shelves are put in.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with the start of gum disease. Purchased a waterpic, did not get any periodontist treatment and the disease has actually regressed and gums pretty much back to normal. I do also floss once a day as well.

I got braces last month and use the water flosser. It makes cleaning these things so much easier. I still use regular dental floss, though, because the process feels incomplete without it.

Here's a link to a $20 coupon for one. You have to "like" them on Facebook. (I really hate these FB only deals, because I don't want to have to sign up for FB to get a coupon)

https://www.facebook.com/WaterpikOra...36862599782923 - it looks like it's for the $100 model. I use the WP100 Ultra , got it for $33 or so using a coupon at Walgreens.com combined w/ shopdiscover's 5% back.

dental floss is considered effective for cleaning up the tight spaces between your teeth whereas water pik can help remove food particles stuck between the teeth , it is device which aim a water stream at your teeth. But I dont think that it is considered as substitute for brushing and flossing, like so many people think about it.

I have really tightly spaced teeth, not sure if the Waterpik would work... I've been curious about it though.

Put the waterpik on high and go at it. Floss afterwords. If you see anything on the floss, then waterpik isn't getting.

I think it is more effective than flossing for many people BECAUSE a lot of people do not know how to floss effectively. If done right I think flossing is more effective but just a bit more. The waterpik is definitely much better than not flossing at all.

I don't floss as I find it extremely inconvenient, I use the waterpik regularly instead and have had perfect dental health.

Floss on a stick. Best thing ever invented.
