My husband and I know nothing about Denver, however, we may find ourselves traveling there this summer with our three children. Like any other city, I've heard there are some unsafe neighborhoods....we just have no idea where they may be. Unfortunately , we won't be able to do much sightseeing, so our primary concern is just to stay somewhere safe....Would we just be better off staying at a hotel in the Denver airport area?, or is that not a particularly nice area itself?

I'm sure there are dangerous neighborhoods.. but I've been to Denver numerous times and have never felt unsafe in any parts.

Denver is one of the safest large cities in the country. I would stay downtown where there are lots of hotels at different prices and centrally-located for touring the city.

Go with closer to downtown. As long as not your getting a bottom priced hotel room, you should be good most places in Denver, though. Downtown just has more to do, closer, faster, and is mighty safe for the most part. The kids may even like it. You will be bored to tears if you get a hotel near the airport.

There is a treatment center there that has been recommended for my daughters eczema/allergies/asthma...her doctor says its the only one of its kind in the country& he highly recommends it for her...but its a two week program ....so we will find ourselves there for that long & know nothing about the city...we live in the suburbs of NYC and know how important it is to know what areas to avoid in a large city....

Denver is not NYC. There are few "bad" neighborhoods, first off. Secondly, the "bad" areas hardly have hotels/motels where you would want to stay. I agree you'd be bored to tears in an airport area hotel for two weeks.

Where will the treatments be? Wouldn't it be good to be near there?
