Hi. My family, which includes small children, is planning a move to CO. We have long loved Fort Collins, but are also interested in whether there are Denver area neighborhoods with similar appeal. We'd like a yard nearing 1/3-1/4 acre; neighborhood with other young kids and parks/playgrounds; good public/charter schools; architectural character, not cookie cutter cul-de-sac style (Ft. Collins is largely lacking here); trees and green space; walk-ability to at least a small neighborhood commercial area; bike-friendly for families (bike lanes, flatt-ish terrain). Better, greener mountain views than Ft. Collins has to offer, somewhat crunchy residents, and access to public transit would be icing on the cake.

We'd be looking for a single family home in the 2500-3000 SF range, including basement; 3+ bedrooms; and 2-3 garage spaces, preferably not exceeding $450k or so if renovations are complete. In reality, we'd probably opt to buy something for less money, that needs work, and renovate it ourselves.

Thank you for any advice.
