I finished my masters degree in an engineering field at CSU in may

Employers think i'm overqualified, underqualified, overeducated or most likely to leave the job after a few months. Or maybe its because I say coffee like caw-fee and water like wooter

Living in Fort Collins for now, how long can I last in denver on 25k?

You have an Engineering degree and can't make some minor assumptions and do the math on your own?

You need to work on your interview skills and resume.

Yea I'd say 8-10 months with no income at all. I could probably squeeze out 1-2 years with a full-time job that pays minimum wage

Actually my resume is solid. I've gotten 13 interviews since February

I feel confident in most of my interviews. I was even told in one interview that they didn't think I would stick around for more than a year or two. I was told in one rejection letter that they were confident I would find a good job since I interview well and my resume was solid.

The problem with hiring junior level civil engineers is that often they are a losing investment for the first couple of years before they get up to speed with how to do things.

I've concluded there are two components preventing me from getting a job:

#1 my personality is not the most aligned with a typical engineer's personality, making me not a good fit at a lot of organizations
#2 the CE industry, largely based on rampant growth in land development and infrastructure, has been in the toilet since 2008

In a strong economy for CEs, my personality would not be an issue because I would be able to find an organization where I fit in

My estimate is 8-10 months with no income at all. I could probably squeak out 1-2 years if I had a full-time minimum wage job

is 25K the starting salary for a civil engineering related job or just a basic job to get by until you find a civil engineering related job? I would assume if you can find a civil engineering job the starting salary would be between 50-60K probably higher since it seems you have a grad degree.

If you are having problems landing a job I would check with the company to see if they have any internship related positions or contract positions to get your foot in the door. I have a couple of friends in the engineering and computer related fields who were able to land full time positions after doing an internship or contract work with the company they wanted to work for.
Good luck.
