We move to Denver in 3 1/2 weeks and can't find any doctors who do pain medication management. This is very worrisome as we will only have 1 month of medication when we move. Please, what doctors actually prescribe controlled pain medication? This stuff isn't something you can just stop taking and substitute tylenol for. Preference is southeast metro area, but at this point any recommendation is appreciated.

Thank you.

No problem there are plenty on Colfax and Broadway.

Why don't you just look at your directory of physicians for your plan. You can try best docs on 5280 magazine it's online too.

So there are certainly enough out there and seemingly very easy to find. What is it about the ones you have approached so far that isnt meeting your expectations?

I have gone through the list from the insurance company. So far all of them only do injections, not medication. I'm looking for legit doctors to treat chronic pain, not some hack that will just write out meds.

So far on the internet, I'm striking out. For one, websites never say that they don't do medication, until you call them, wasting time as you go down the list and keep getting a bunch of no's. That's why I'm asking for specific recommendations. Saying there are tons is not helpful, because I am not finding any.

For some reason 5280 magazine says there are zero pain management doctors within 15 miles of centennial. Something isn't working right with that...

That's because the best resources are always located in the more populated areas Downtown. I would suggest you call them and ask them about satellite offices. Centennial is about 15 miles south of Downtown Denver. Good luck.

I expanded the search to 30 miles and only got 3 results, one of which wasn't a pain doctor. Thanks for the tip, I'm saving the link for other Denver information, it just wasn't helpful here.

Any chance your current doctor can give you a referral? All I can think is that doctors are saying they don't do pills over the phone just in case they've got drug addicts trying to score.

We live in Houston. Our doctor doesn't know anyone in Colorado.

And I made it very clear that we're coming from pain management already and need to transition to another pain management doctor who can do medication management. This isn't a case where they are lying, there is just no distinction between pain management using injections and therapy and those who prescribe medication as well. This is why I'm requesting names of doctors, to try to narrow this down. I haven't found a way to search that helps distinguish these groups of pain management doctors.
