We are currently renting a house off of parker and Arapaho and getting ready to by this spring summer. My husband works out of town so commutes to the airport once a week. I'm hoping someone has had a great experience with a elementary school for their special needs child or a bad one so we can stay clear. I'm realizing that even though cherry creek and Douglas county school districts are our best choice that there are some pretty baD schools in them. I have a 3 year old with autism and he had a stroke and birth and a typically developing 18 month old. TIA!

I suggest setting up a few school tours in the area. We toured three schools in Cherry Creek district and all three seemed pretty good, but its all a matter of perception and can vary from year to year from what I'm told. Hopefully some others will chime in with more info. Good luck!

My daughter has noted that Timberline, in the CCSD, is a good environment for special needs kids.

Thank you we will look into that school. We have toured many of the schools in cherry creek and Douglas. Unfortunately they all gave the we do everything to have your child mainstreamed as soon as possible same robotic response. We even interviewed a school that we were told not to touch with a 10 foot stick just to see what they would say and it was the same too good to be true response of their special needs program. I just don't want to use my son as a Guinea pig for finding a school that can provide a good environment for him :/
