I'm thinking about moving to Denver or Colorado springs. Can any one tell me about what to expect in the differen't surrounding areas.

I'm a older single guy looking to meet lady's and listen to live music. I also play electric/acoustic guitar and have a solo one man music show. I play a wide variety of music from Beatles, some country, classic rock, modern rock and more. I was wondering if there a lot of solo type gigs in the area?
What kind of music scene does Denver or Colorado Springs have?
What areas are considered newage or health minded?
I heard Boulder is a very health minded area.
Colorado springs was sort of more on the newage side.
I'm kind of a health nut type into antiaging, jogging and spiritual stuff.
What are the best areas for social life. Would Colorado springs be better than Denver?
Are there a lot of festivals in the summer?
any websites I can check out?
Thanks

Errrr. I would not consider Colorado Springs to be "new age" in any way. It is far more conservative than Denver or Boulder. If you have the $ it sounds like Boulder would be a good fit for you.

I see the OP is also considering Nashville. IMO, don't go there. Everyone with a guitar heads there, just like every knockout gal heads to Hollywood - way too much competition.

Rents are reasonable now due to the recession and a glut of houses needing occupants who can pay something / anything. Downtown COLO SPGS in not more than a 90-minute drive to downtown Denver. No need to agonize over which one to live in. IMO, Denver is the place to be for nightlife, so much of it there compared to COLO SPGS. Only New Age aspects of COLO SPGS would be found 5 miles west of town in Manitou Springs (on the flanks of Pikes Peak) and maybe on the west side of COLO SPGS in an area called Old Colorado City (OCC). Tons of info in the COLO SPGS forum on these areas, so I'd suggest you go to that forum then used the search tool with keywords like: OCC or Manitou or "Old Colorado City" or whatever term you wish. I do think there is room here in COLO SPGS for another performer.

Default Thanks... a few more questions.. real estate..renting, buying

Where are best areas too look in Denver for low cost rent and foreclosures?..would like to live close to the clubs if possible?
I may be interested in buying a house or ?? if there are great deals

what do they call this party area where all the bars are..I think I have been there once maybe?..was that downtown?
I spent some time in Boulder a few years back but it seemed to be too high priced for me.

I have driven through Colorado Springs a couple of times and thought it was beautiful but really don't know much about it.

about Nashville. I spent lots of time partying there. mainly on Broadway street. Your right about there being too many musicians ..but that doesn't bother me much. I love to party and have fun. I would choose Denver over Nashville though..but I was thinking about it

I have been a professional guitarist and singer off and on all my life and put together a new one man show...I'll be looking to play smaller clubs and/or anyplace that works.

Is Denver big on Blues/Rock?
I do a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton style
suff in my show.. kind of my specialty
Thanks

Although I am a younger single female who enjoys music but doesn't play, thanks for the reply folks. I live in WI and, after one vaca to Ft. Collins, am moving to the Springs area in July with a friend. I imagine once I get out there I will experience more of CO and decide where I will head. Your info helps me out (new age and money questions). Thanks!

I can't speak for all of Denver, but I sure am! All I listen to is 60's and 70's "classic rock"-- and I was born in the '80s. As far as I'm concerned... please come to Denver!
