too bad about Smash. Can happen anywhere. The one I went to was in Westminster, Sheridan I think? They looked new. oh and trust me, I'd rather take my chances at a nice new clean Smashburger than the Capt. Grill. Ever looked in their kitchen, or get a gander at your waitress? ewww.

Sam Taylor's. They keep moving. They were on Leetsdale and before that 5 points and now I have no idea. Aren't they going by a different name now, although I know Sam Taylor is an actual man.

Smash Burger (multiple locations now) ranges from decent to overly greasy. For those who know what a Steak N Shake is, the burger concept is the same without waiters and a limited menu.

City Grille has great green chile and the burgers are good.

I really wish we had a White Castle in the area. I don't care if there is just one and it is at the opposite end of town.

There really is no good BBQ in Denver. Brothers is your basic fare, not good, not bad, just there. Sam Taylors is the same. There is a hole in the wall BBQ shop just west of City Grille on the North Side that is a bit better than the others.

I agree- you can get sick anywhere. It just totally ruined ever eating there again for me! lol

The Sam Taylor's I have gone to has been in the same spot for a long time- have the moved recently?

Where is the Sam Taylor's you are going to Cecilia?

Steve: The best bbq I've had is M&D's, it's always been consistent too.

I don't understand the love for White Castle. Same goes for In and Out. Just blah. Go ahead, shoot me Californians!

I heard that City Grille has good green chile, but never got to it because the service was so god awful. It was when smoking was allowed in doors, and that was bad enough, but I would have toughed it out.

I think Brothers is so overrated. I also heard that it's the type of style that makes it so I don't like it. The dry rub stuff. I like wet.

Steak and Shake, is that a Calif. chain?

omg I'm hungry again! dam this thread!!!!!!

I didn't either. I get 5280 mag too and I blame them for wanting me to go out to eat almost every night

I just tried one for the first time, it's out in Westminster, maybe there are others out here, but omg, now that's a burger. There just aren't any really good burger joints downtown that I can think of right now.

And funny you mentioned it, I have never ever tried the BBQ place. There was a time when I practically lived across the streed from that place. But it was always closed! And then I forgot. So I'll try. Thanks for reminding me.

Further down the street, I think the block or two behind the city grille, going towards downtown, on the corner, there is a gyros place that is really really good. Best grape leaves I've ever had. Can't remember the name. I think it's on Grant and Colfax.
My Brother's Bar and Jack 'n Grill serve great burgers! Check 'em out. M&D's, Ethel's House of Soul, and Pierre's Supper Club all have great barbeque, but mine is even better.

I've been to all you named, know the owner of Jack 'n Grill, but have not been to My Brother's Bar. I better get over there.

Did you ever go to that chicken place, over by Ethel's on Welton? They were soooo good, but closed down. My husband knows the owners daughter, I guess it was tax problems. The name... started with a K or C.

OK, seems like the last time I went it was on Leetsdale, right off of Alameda.
