I was just over in Bondurant the other day and went to the Brickstreet Market for the first time! I'll try eating there next time. Thanks, Katiem09!

The Downtown Farmer's Market (May thru Oct) needs to be included. Soooo...many great booths to grab farm-fresh b-fast items (not to mention offerings from the local restaurants along Court Ave too). Last Saturday I randomly stopped at one booth and had an egg sandwich that included fresh grilled asparagus, some cheese I couldn't pronounce, thick bacon, egg, all on focaccia bread. ummmm....

Anything on the west side? Moving to Des Moines in one week and west of the metro.

Oh, I'll check that out, CCG! I usually go later in the day. I haven't eaten there, yet, but I could.

LookingAround, I hope someone comes up with additional suggestions -- this is where I've been so far out on the west side.

I just recently ate at the Machine Shed weekend breakfast buffet. It was really good. I went to Cracker Barrel when I first moved here, and I often end up at the HyVee for coffee with elder friends. Yes, the HyVee is a grocery, but there's a cafe in the store, and they have special meals/buffets periodically.

Cracker Barrel:

HyVee:

I have heard Harvey's out in Redfield is good. I am moving out that way so will check it out and give my opinion when I move out that way in the next week or so. Will also try the Rusty Duck in Dexter but not sure if it is a breakfast spot. They get rave reviews for everything else not sure what time they open.

Those are the two places in my little patch of Iowa I can think of. I know they are a bit further west but have heard they get people driving out there from Des Moines. Will let you all know if they are worth the 30 minute drive.

This move has been over a year in the making and I am getting excited to be in the area very soon. Sorry I can't give more info or tips but I am just a newbie to Iowa.

Not a problem! You eat breakfast. That's all the qualification you need.
