triglycerides? my triglycerides are now 390 but my cholesterol has also been good (total between 162-178; HDL between 46-53; LDL was always good)

yet when my doctor sees me they tell me my cholesterol is high and i have to correct them and they apologize. is it one and the same?

i eat a lot of eggs due to my cholesterol being good and that they help me feel energetic and help my concentration, but i wonder are they causing my triglycerides to go up?

There have been studies out now that they say the lower them. If you are reading high it could be too much though but look at your total diet. In nature, a chicken naturally lay one egg or less a day. I always think about things like that when wondering what would be a good "natural" way to go about eating things. I always try to go by the four/week rule.

Try switching out the egg with fish 1-2x week, & nuts (in proper portion) instead.

Cholesterol is not the same as triglycerides. First of all make sure your labs were drawn while totally fasting. Your other numbers look good.

I don't know the biochemistry fully. But my experience is that high triglycerides may be genetic. They are sometimes connected with insulin resistance and Metabolic Syndrome X. I'd cut down on the sugars and see if that improves anything. If not, keep an eye on it. You might need meds if they go too high.

Some medications can raise triglyceride levels, so if your taking any prescription meds you might want look up the known side effects.

Excessive carbs in your diet and even modest amounts of alcohol can raise triglycerides.

Exercise helps to lower triglyceride levels.
