Some people can handle a cheat day now and then, but it sends others on benders that last for weeks.

Suggestion: fry a bunless cheeseburger at home (assuming this is what you're craving). Peel and slice a potato and eat it raw with some sour cream. Add lettuce, tomato, onion. Salt to taste.

Your diet needs to be something you can live on, and live with, indefinitely.

After months of eating smaller portions (and losing 35 lbs.) if I ate a bunch of favorite foods in a single day(Burger King Whopper w/cheese, pizza, chips, bread) I would be so sick with indigestion! Instead I let myself have a favorite once a month or every other month. It’s enough to satisfy me. Yesterday I had a fast food cheeseburger. Won’t have another for several weeks.

Good luck and congrats on your progress.

The specific meal I described is full of essential nutrients, shouldn't set off any blood sugar swings that can make you hungry later, and shouldn't set off any cravings. Enjoy!

If you're craving for fast food then your diet plan will ultimately fail. You will end up losing focus and splurge and weight will go back up again. That is not a good diet plan if you have cravings.

When I started the keto diet, I didn't cheat at all because I didn't have any cravings anymore. I only cheat one day cause I felt like having the enjoyment of ice cream but didn't crave for it.

See my difference is I enjoyed the comfort of ice cream but I didn't "crave" for it.

I"ve stuck to a lower carb diet (about 100g per day) now for about 10 years. One or two SMALL fast food meals per week with a SMALL soda. Still able to maintain the 40+ lbs. I lost.
