Im curious as to how those people who are voting in this poll determining their bodyfat %. I see already we have 3 people who claim 10-14% and one person at 5-9%. How EXACTLY do you guys know what your true bf % is? Im thinking its poor guesstimates and/or just people purposely trying to screw up the thread/poll.
Really, the only two ways to accurately measure it is by either water displacement test, or having an experienced person use bodyfat calipers. Most all other methods (guessing, going by pics online of what x% looks like, or scales) or just insanely inaccurate.
Well, I for one am happy this isn't a poll that shows how each person voted.
Before I started my diet I typed my info into one of those calculators online that shows body fat percentage. We all know they aren't that accurate, but it gives a ballpark figure. Mine is pretty impressive, in the wrong direction of course, otherwise I wouldn't be on a diet.
Female here. The last time I had it measured was about 5 months ago, and at that point I was 18%. I haven't been lifting like I used to, so I know it's higher now; I'd ballpark it at 20%.

Calipers are the least accurate. They now have Bod Pod and Dexa scans. I had a Bod Pod test. Google it.

Neither are that accurate, displacement more so but it's not like everyone has the same bone density or bone mass. DEXA is as good as it gets. I've had DEXA done but not when I was in that 5-14% range. Just an estimate that I was around that the 8-12% range, but it's not like I lost that much weight so pretty accurate. That was then. I'm not now but it's not uncommon for men to be in the single digit, low double digit range. I'm a fatty now, but not everyone is.
the mirror is a perfectly good gauge. With lower body fat I see far more muscle definition and look leaner. honestly though, I don't care about accuracy. it's not light im a fitness competitor or something.
The value is questionable. I just dropped a boatload of weight and am within five pounds of the federally authored suggested weight for my height and am still considered overweight according to a traditional BMI calculator.
I do not look like someone who is overweight, far from it nowadays.
