Good news for a change about pit bulls saving owner.

An 8-year-old pit bull rescued by a police officer who wanted a companion for his mom has returned the favor in the most selfless way possible. When her owner passed out while crossing a train track in Shirley, Mass., Lilly bravely pulled the unconscious woman out of danger, but ended up being hit by an oncoming freight train herself.

I'm definitely no fan of pit bulls, but that's pretty incredible!

and then there is this additional pet story that I notice at the OP's link:
Lost parakeet shocks cops by telling them its home address

A lost parakeet in Japan suprised police by telling them it's home address, whereupon they were able to return the bird to its owner.

Awww. What a sweet story. Donations are being taken to help pay for Lily's medical expenses which, the story says, will run in the thousands.

Good girl, Lily!

Default Pit bull pulls owner from train tracks in life-saving rescue

A pit bull that made a life-saving rescue by pulling her owner out of the path of an oncoming freight train now needs a helping hand herself.

Lilly managed to drag her owner, Christine Spain, off the tracks just before the train rumbled through. The conductor was unable to stop the locomotive in time, and the wheels wound up slicing through the dog’s right foot, fracturing her pelvis and causing other internal injuries.
